Sarah is flexible with her approach to the first session, adapting the conversation and structure to meet the needs of each client. The purpose of the first session is for Sarah to get to know you and understand what your concerns and issues are that are bringing you to counselling. The first session also allows you to get to know Sarah and ask her any questions you wish about the counselling process. At the end of the first session, you and Sarah together will be able to discuss what the goals are for counselling and plan what is going to be the most helpful treatment approach for you. Sarah will also be able to support you with referrals to other relevant professionals if and when required.
